Zinc stearate features excellent thermal stability and low initial discoloration tendency,
coupled with good light stability. When used in combination with calcium stearate and barium
stearate, it exhibits a synergistic effect. It also functions as a foam regulator and can be used as
a foaming auxiliary agent in foamed products.
Zinc stearate serves as a lubricant in cosmetic loose powders, adhesive powders, and plastic
products. It acts as a heat stabilizer for polyvinyl chloride (PVC). When compounded with
barium-cadmium soaps, it is mainly applied in flexible PVC products, with the key advantages
of inhibiting initial discoloration and preventing sulfurization contamination.
Additionally, zinc stearate works as a lubricant and mold release agent for thermosetting plastics
(including styrene-based resins such as polystyrene, ABS, and SAN resins, phenolic resins,
amino resins) and polyesters, especially suitable for transparent products.
In the rubber industry, zinc stearate is employed as a rubber compound lubricant, anti-adhesive
agent, and activator for vulcanization catalysts. It also acts as a glazing agent in textile finishing,
