Sulfamic acid uses
Sulfamic acid is an important fine chemical product. It is widely applied in various fields, including
industrial and civil cleaning agents for metal and ceramic manufacturing equipment, oil well treatment
agents and cleaners, electroplating industrial additives, electrochemical polishing agents, asphalt
emulsifiers, and etching agents. It also serves as a sulfonating agent, dyeing auxiliary and high-efficiency
bleaching agent in the dye and pigment industries; as a flame retardant and softener for fibers and
paper; as a resin crosslinking accelerator and softening agent for paper and textiles; as well as
herbicides and withering inhibitors. In analytical chemistry, it is used as a reference reagent and
standard analytical reagent for acid titration. Calcium sulfamate is specially used to prevent and
control wheat rust.

As a cleaning agent, sulfamic acid is in solid form, featuring convenient storage and transportation
and easy solution preparation, making it especially suitable for long-distance application. It has an
extensive cleaning range and can be used to clean boilers, condensers, heat exchangers, jacketed
vessels and chemical pipelines.

In breweries, it removes scale from glass-lined storage tanks, brewing kettles, open beer coolers and
beer barrels. It is also applied to clean evaporators in enamel plants and production equipment in
paper mills. For air conditioning systems, it eliminates rust and water scale in cooling systems and
evaporative condensers. On ocean-going vessels, it clears algae and scale inside seawater evaporators,
heat exchangers and brine heaters.

Additionally, it can remove scale from copper kettles, radiators, dishwashers, silverware, toilets,
ceramic tiles, as well as food and cheese processing equipment. It also cleans protein deposits on
digesters and sediments on disinfection equipment used in meat, vegetable and cheese processing
plants. The United States Department of Agriculture approves sulfamic acid as an acidic cleaning
agent for fresh meat, poultry, rabbit and egg processing enterprises.
