Thiourea is the primary raw material for producing thiourea dioxide. It is widely used in pharmaceuticals (such as sulfathiazole, methylthiouracil, tetrazole, nitrazole, and fluorouracil), pesticides (including insecticides, fungicides, acaricides, herbicides, and antiviral agents), fertilizers (as a nitrogen stabilizer), the rayon industry, agriculture, metal ore processing, and other fields.

Thiourea is an intermediate of fungicides such as Chlorpyrifos and herbicides such as Acetochlor and Tercazine.

Thiourea can be used as a raw material for dyes, resins, and compression molding powders, as well as a vulcanization accelerator for rubber and a flotation agent for metal minerals.
