Sodium Hydrosulfite USES
1. Textile Industry
Serves as a primary bleaching agent for fabrics like cotton, linen, and viscose, especially in vat 
dyeing and sulfur dyeing processes. sodium hydrosulfite removes natural pigments and impurities to achieve a pure base color.
Acts as a reducing agent in dyeing operations, converting insoluble vat dyes into soluble leuco 
forms that can penetrate textile fibers, then reverting to insoluble forms after oxidation to fix colors.
Used for decolorization and stripping of dyed fabrics, helping correct dyeing defects or achieve 
special color effects.
2. Pulp and Paper Industry
Applied in mechanical pulp bleaching to whiten wood pulp without excessive fiber damage, 
maintaining pulp strength while improving brightness.
Aids in deinking of recycled paper, breaking down and removing printing inks and dyes from 
waste paper fibers to produce high-quality recycled pulp.
3. Sodium hydrosulfite Food Industry
Functions as a food additive (E223) for bleaching starches, sugars, and food pigments. Sodium Dithionite brightens the appearance of products like wheat flour, cornstarch, and crystalline sugar.
Acts as an antioxidant to prevent oxidation of food components, extending the shelf life of certain 
processed foods (usage is strictly regulated by food safety standards).
4. Water Treatment
Reduces harmful substances such as chromate in industrial wastewater, converting toxic 
hexavalent chromium to less toxic trivalent chromium for easier removal.
